Dive Into UDL Website
A paper-based book does not model inclusivity and accessibility. As such, we created a companion website for our book. The site contains an assessment (to help the reader determine their current level of understanding of UDL and whether they should
Wade In, take a Shallow Swim or go for a Deep Dive), an overview of each chapter and many additional resources to guide practice.
Dive Into UDL - 2nd Edition

Working with co-author Luis Pérez, we wrote the second edition of Dive Into UDL with the intent of focusing in on the "hidden curriculum - the aspects of learning that are often expected but seldom taught or mentioned. They include executive functions, self-regulation, self-reflection and metacognition.
SOOC (Small, Social, Short, Supported) Open Online Course
This video was created for a SOOC offered to educators free of charge. This is the first video in the series. While video production has advanced since we made this, the UDL content is still valid today. In the course, we also provided captions and a transcript.
The course was 4 weeks long. We had a 68% completion rate (see Publication page) for related published papers.
Walmart
Learning Design & Delivery
Websites Development

Quickly developed two websites (English and French) to support Walmart Associates at the beginning of the pandemic. Provided resources related to mindfulness, resilience, etc.
In addition, I created and maintained the Learning Design & Delivery section of the Associate website built in Adobe Experience Manager.
Developed Design & Delivery Protocols and Processes

As Senior Manager, I co-created the end-to-end design process for learning including
Discovery and Intake process, Learning Strategy Document, Asset development and SLA, business/SME responsibilities and LMS/System deployment. I managed all asset development for all paper-based and digital resources for new projects and BAU.
Videos Production
I read and edited all scripts for all video and eLearning produced by the team. I also wrote scripts for various projects including CAP, Total Loss and Friendly (with a mask).
During COVID I directed videos for both senior management and out in the field for projects such as CAP, Friendly and Last Mile Delivery.
Workday Rollout

During the beginning of COVID, I rapidly shifted the team to virtual work. At that time the team had 6 weeks to create 100s of paper based, digital and video assets. Using an iterative, agile approach the team brought the project in on time and on budget.
Design and Delivery Innovations
to Meet Changing Business Needs

-
Developed shorter videos to reduce seat time and increase engagement
-
QR Codes for instant access
-
Branding, animation and character creation elevated the look and feel of assets
-
Purposeful use of eLearning with engaging branching scenarios
-
Quick COVID photo shoots – iPhone, small teams
-
Leveraged existing assets - Updated and refreshed videos, repurposed existing photos
-
Flexible use of online tools – Adobe Experience Manager (Inter-company website), Wix, Storyline, RISE, Powtoons, Canva, etc.
-
Developed cost and time saving strategies including leveraging online tools resources (FlatIcon), online tools (RISE) and existing tools (PPT for videos)
Innovating Onboarding & Compliance Training
.png)
I was part of the team working to align routines and training plans to reduce initial training times. I spearheaded the innovative approach to compliance training that included rebranding, branching scenarios and scenario based assessments.

In addition, I worked with outside vendors (credit cards, money transfer, protection plans) to create simple, memorable training to ensure compliance while addressing accessibility issues such as complexity and reading level, and business needs such as costs associated with seat time and retention.
Fashion Training

I created the storyboard and developed the eLearning (using Articulate Storyline) for this branching scenario to give associates "hands on" training to help them follow the new processes in the fashion departments.
Friendly and Last Mile Delivery Training

I wrote the script and directed the photoshoot for the "Friendly" video used across the company during the Pandemic.
I developed the storyboard and created the photoshoot for Last Mile Delivery eLearning used to train grocery drivers across Walmart.
Team Development

I managed a team that grew from 5 to 12 designers across time zones. Met consistently with individual team members to focus on improvement. Created heat maps to support development and hiring. Team development/building included a "video in a day" simulation where two teams completed intake, video design, creation and presentation in one day.

Equity App

Using an agile project management strategy, I led the development and content teams in the creation of an online instructional app on workplace negotiation and women’s equity.
Murdoch Mysteries Curriculum

I pitched the idea of creating a Canadian Curriculum Guide to Murdoch Mysteries. This long running, beloved Canadian program blends murder mysteries with Canadian history.
Course - Helping Boys Learn

Using gamification and adult learning principles, I created an online course for parents/educators sold across Canada

I created all the paper-based documents, online questionnaires, scripts, videos, banners and presentations to help pass the by-law for a hotly contested 18 million dollar window replacement project.
Live and Virtual Presentations
I have presented internationally for many years on a variety of topics including UDL, Instructional Design and software implementation. My goal is to create presentations that engage the learner visually, and focus on multiple ways to interact interact with and respond to the information.

Sublime Learning Overview Video
Click to watch an overview of eTeachables. My content team and I created approximately 700 just-in-time instructional videos with downloadable templates to support job-embedded professional learning.
Video Portal

With our in-house development team we used an agile approach to our portal build-out. The unique features of our portal was the focus on pedagogy and learner support rather than content, grade or subject.
eTeachable Example
Leading the content, video production and portal development teams, we created SMART and Promethean board libraries of eTeachables focused on inquiry-based learning. We also created libraries for Google Docs, iPad, Kurzweil 3000 and Inspiration and Kidspiration software.
Professional Learning Guides
I created Professional Learning Guides - Planning and Implementation - to support districts and teachers as they Inquire, Plan, Act and Reflect on their teaching practice. Click the image to see example. Note: original document had video and support information built into each page.
White Paper
I wrote a whitepaper examining the research to support the design and use of eTeachables in teacher professional learning, and the change in instructional practice needed to successfully implement the use of technology in the classroom. Click the report image to download the executive summary.
